Locman Group, the renowned watchmaking firm headquartered on the island of Elba, presents the new watch dedicated to the Folgore Parachutist Brigade of the Italian army. The new timepiece is enriching the line of military watches that Locman has been making since 2005 in cooperation with the Italian Air Force and the Italian Navy.

The Tremila-Brigata Paracadutisti Folgore is a watch characterised by sporty and original lines, completely engineered in-house in the Locman laboratories using state-of-the-art technologies and capable of meeting the technical demands of the Italian armed forces. The new models thus conceived combine high-quality movements with ultra-resistant and ultra-light materials such as Kevlar, carbon, titanium, steel and rubber – all of which are widely used by the military.
In its oversized chronograph version, the Tremila-Brigata Paracadutisti Folgore features a rectangular case in antiglare satin-brushed steel, an essential characteristic for night-time air-drop operations, fully integrated within a single-piece perforated strap in non-allergenic rubber. The strap is secured to the steel structure by two screwed lugs at 12 and 6 o’clock.

The case also features a pushbutton bearer plate, screwed in at 3 o’clock and a polished steel nameplate, fixed to the side with two screws at 9 o’clock, bearing the laser-engraved satin-brushed TREMILA logo. The titanium back, adorned with bas-relief engravings of the Italian armed forces logo and the Parachutists insignia – the same as the one appearing on the typical red paratroopers beret – is held to the steel case by four screws. The extremely rugged overall effect of the Tremilo is complemented by the scratch-resistant glass that appears to be one with the case.

The dial of the Tremila-Brigata Paracadutisti Folgore is crafted in Kevlar, a polymer synthetic fibre that is harder than steel, extremely heat-resistant and also used for making bullet-proof vests, extreme sports equipment and aircraft components. The dial features a vertical deflector bearing the inscriptions “Brigata Paracadusti Folgore” and the “Locman Italy” logo, rendered particularly visible by the magnifying effect of the watch glass, along with applied hour-markers, the Locman signature instead of the conventional number 1 in the figure 12, and the date display at 3 o’clock. The distinctive Folgore badge or emblem, the yellow flash of lighting with a winged sword against a sky-blue background, designed to look like a miniature painting, is stamped at 6 o’clock beneath the permanent small seconds, whereas the chronograph counter is located at 12 o’clock. The larger than usual hands ensure optimal visibility, even in extreme situations.

The Tremila-Brigata Paracadutisti Folgore watch, including the medium-sized non-chronograph version, is available in green and black or brown and black shades, reminiscent of the woodland and desert camouflage gear used by parachutists for undercover and nocturnal operations.
