The watch manufactory AEROWATCH SA, based in Le Noirmont, adds an exceptional timepiece to its collections in the form of an 18-carat gold mechanical chronograph produced in a limited edition of 100 pieces.

For this new timepiece, Aerowatch pays tribute to the work of watchmakers of bygone times and to their high standards. Indeed, by completely restoring the original Valjoux 92 calibre dating from the 1950s, the Jura based firm upholds the passion of master watchmakers for superior quality workmanship.

The Valjoux 92 movement comprises a column-wheel and features the “oscillating pinion” system invented in 1886. Particular care was therefore taken in the finish of this component. Indeed, all steel parts were buffed, chamfered and then polished to the highest watchmaking standards. The bridges for their part were gilded with rose gold and embellished by a light “côtes de Genève” decoration.

To showcase this masterpiece, AEROWATCH chose to produce the 42.00mm case in 18-carat rose gold. It finds its inspiration in the elegant lines of bygone years, having been remodelled to obtain a contemporary style. This gold case comes from the workshops of a manufacturer in the same village of Le Noirmont. Equipped with a domed sapphire crystal on the dial side, the case also has a transparent sapphire on the movement side through which the mechanism can be admired.

The silvered dial is engine-turned in the centre and contrasts with the flange and lustrous black counters. Applied indexes matching the colour of the case create a harmonious overall effect. The choice of the Pulsimeter scale underlines the uniqueness of this creation. This scale, calibrated on the basis of 30 beats, was used in the past by doctors to take the pulse. The hands, like the indexes, have a “super-luminova” finish allowing the user to tell the time in the darkness.

The genuine alligator strap is coupled with a personalised 18-carat rose gold pin buckle.
