The name of the new MEREA women’s watch with mechanical movement is inspired by the star Mira, whose brightness is variable. The watch has an ethereal lightness, and the idea of changeability – bringing movement into harmony with an exceptional watch and piece of jewellery – is a significant concept for Milus, a vision that has been skilfully realised with the MEREA ‘TriRetrograde Seconds Skeleton’.
The form of the MEREA is pure, dynamic and forceful, yet at the same time dainty, feminine and very elegant. The allure of changeability is many-sided in this unique women’s watch. It charmingly unites its enchanting design with supreme mechanical precision. The impressive retrograde-seconds display is embedded in a dynamic 18-carat red-gold case made of three parts. The bezel, the strap attachment elements and the large-dimension crown are inlaid with 1.08 carats of white diamonds.
The artistically designed dial is realised in three different layers: the basis is formed by a metal coating on which an iridescent mother-of-pearl layer conjures a discreet interplay of colour. In the third layer, the filigree, artistically formed lattice of numbers is reminiscent of Art Nouveau styling. The three gold-coloured seconds hands that jump back in turn after 20 seconds perform a graceful ballet in front of the backdrop of the mother-of-pearl seconds display segments. Positioned at 6, 10 and 2 o’clock, the seconds hands work in ‘flying relay’ clockwise. Two hand-engraved supporting elements perfectly accentuate this fascinating display. The first hand, positioned near 6 o’clock, jumps instantly back to the right to its starting position after 20 seconds. Going clockwise, the next seconds hand at 10 o’clock followed by the third at 2 o’clock take over the same task. This alternation tirelessly repeats itself, giving the overall impression of a magical dance performed by the seconds hands.
