Maurice Lacroix’s new ambassador: Justin Rose, British golf star
Luxury must serve a purpose. In Justin Rose’s opinion. Consequently the British golf pro likes the chronographs from Maurice Lacroix. This appreciation is mutual. “We could not desire a better ambassador for our company. We create watches for people who have the confidence to be themselves. Personalities who stand out from the crowd and are looking for more than social status.” This is how CEO Martin Bachmann defines the people that Maurice Lacroix esteems. This profile fits Justin Rose perfectly. With his natural charisma and pleasant yet focused manner, the British golfer uniquely embodies the spirit of Maurice Lacroix.
“Authenticity is not a marketing slogan for us, it is a state of mind. Our fundamental desire is to create products that are genuine and true, whose actual value is not only in what can be seen,” explains Martin Bachmann, CEO. Through the company’s main design code “less is more”, Maurice Lacroix is constantly at the quest of creating the perfect object of desire merging perfectly design and function. This is why Maurice Lacroix has become one of the most exclusive and sought-after Manufacture brands.
For Justin Rose, 27 year old world class player, it is important to be in demand – and not just on the golf course. He lives his dream, yet keeps his feet on the ground, and is always conscious of what really counts in life. Loyalty. To himself and to others. Whatever he does, he does with passion. Justin Rose: “On the course I am a golfer and nothing else: absolute precision and accuracy of movement are all that count for me. In my private life I switch over and I am there for those I love, 100%. I am husband and father, friend and brother. I always try to live in the here and now.”
The things with which Justin Rose, member of the 2008 Ryder Cup team, surrounds himself must reflect his attitude and provide meaningful accompaniment to his life. “I am interested in the best quality, because I want to have something from the things around me for a long time and I must be able to rely on them. For me the design is every bit as important as the function. Ostentation for the wrist and bling bling do not fit into my world.” It is the hidden details that interest and fascinate the athlete.
The master watchmakers of Maurice Lacroix are experts in this field. Since the launch of the first watch model, the company has consistently introduced pioneering developments that have brought the company many patents and trademarks. The company achieved a worldwide coup with the invention of Mémoire 1, the first mechanical clock with memory. Which model is Justin Rose’s favorite? “The fact that I can only wear one watch at a time is a real handicap for me. Currently the “Le Chronographe” is my favorite companion.”
Biography: Justin Rose
Justin Rose burst onto the golfing scene as a 17 year old at the 1998 British Open at Royal Birkdale when he holed a 40 meter pitch shot for a birdie on his final hole to claim 4th place. He started his professional career the next day.
Looking back on this period, Justin Rose comments: “The pressure to succeed is primarily self-generated and the pressure is a lot greater now than it was then. Now I know that I have a real chance to win. As an amateur, I simply had nothing to lose.” His source of pride as a golfer: “I am a fighter and I am at my best when my back is against the wall. I just don’t give up.”
The Englishman was born on July 30, 1980 in Johannesburg South Africa and moved to England with his parents at the age of five. As a junior, he was a very successful amateur golfer. At the age of 15 he won both the Peter McEvoy Trophy and the McGregor Trophy. He played for Great Britain and Ireland on the U18 Team and became the youngest player, at that time, to represent Great Britain and Ireland in the Walker Cup when he was 17. Today Justin Rose plays on the European Tour and the US PGA Tour. He lives in London and Orlando, Florida. He and his wife Kate have a son, Leo, who was born in 2009.
His life is a balance between the fairway and the family: “My wife Kate and I have a very clear agreement. When I am on tour, golf determines my life. If I come home for a week after a tournament, I am 100% husband and father. So golf is very much put to one side.”
Justin Rose is considered one of golf’s most consistent players. He is one of the best in Europe. In 2007 he won the European Tour Order of Merit, reached a career high of number 6 in the world rankings and won the Volvo Masters in Valderama. In 2008 he made his first appearance for the European Ryder Cup team, where he defeated Phil Mickelson in the singles and was the best performing rookie for both teams. He is one of golf’s worldwide ambassadors. (Maurice Lacroix press)
